Architecture
Three architectures, one maker.
The electronics that run a pergola's motors, lighting and sensors can be built in different ways. We design the same function at three levels of integration: Standalone, All-in-Box and One-Board. All three sit in the same product family, under the same model coding.
Architecture lab
One function, three layouts.
In all three architectures the motor is driven, the LEDs are dimmed and the sensors are read. What changes is how many boards and enclosures those functions are spread across. That layout decides the installation point, the site wiring, the room for expansion and how the system is serviced.
Switch between the tabs to see, in schematic form, how boards and enclosures are redistributed across the three architectures.
Hybrid · 2 PCB
All-in-Box
Two independent boards in one enclosure: the motor side and the lighting side stay on separate boards but are installed in the same box.
Best suited to · Systems that want motor and lighting in one place

Standalone
- What it is
- Each function has its own unit: motor control, LED control and sensors are installed separately and work independently of each other.
- When to choose it
- Projects whose requirements may change over time, systems that will grow in stages, or an existing installation that needs one more function.
- What you gain, what you give up
- Flexibility comes with more units: more enclosures, more mounting space and more connections between units.
- Wiring and installation
- Each unit is powered and connected where it sits. Site wiring is the highest of the three architectures; in return, every connection belongs to a single function and is easy to trace.

All-in-Box
- What it is
- Two independent boards in one enclosure: the motor side and the lighting side stay on separate boards but are installed in the same box.
- When to choose it
- Projects that want motor and lighting at a single installation point while keeping the two functions electrically separate.
- What you gain, what you give up
- Installation gets simpler and the modular logic is kept. The scope of the box, however, is fixed by its design; a need beyond it calls for an additional unit.
- Wiring and installation
- Site connections are gathered in one box, which means fewer enclosures and shorter cable runs than Standalone.

One-Board
- What it is
- The motor driver and the LED dimmer share a single board. Every function is designed into the same circuit.
- When to choose it
- Projects with a scope that is clear from the start, tight mounting space, and a priority on a compact, economical solution.
- What you gain, what you give up
- The fewest parts and the smallest footprint. In exchange, the feature set is fixed by the board design, which leaves this architecture the least room for expansion.
- Wiring and installation
- The fewest connection points and the quickest installation. Only the motor, LED, sensor and supply lines remain around the board.
Side by side
| Criterion | Standalone | All-in-Box | One-Board |
|---|---|---|---|
| Board layout | A separate unit per function | Two independent PCBs | Single PCB |
| Enclosure | Each unit in its own enclosure | Single enclosure | Single enclosure |
| Site wiring | Most | Moderate: gathered in one box | Least |
| Expansion | Easiest: add a module | Limited to the scope of the box | Limited to the board design |

There is no single right answer.
The right architecture depends on the number of motors, the type of lighting, the sensors and the mounting conditions. If you are unsure, send us your project details or use CYRA.
