CYRA Lab · Module 04
Show a Colour
Show a colour and the light becomes it.
Hold a coloured object in the area at the centre of the camera: CYRA reads the dominant colour and turns a virtual RGB LED strip to it with a smooth transition. A red mug, a blue notebook, a green leaf: try what an RGB light scene can do with the colour in your hand.

How to try it
Turn on the camera; a dashed sampling area appears in the middle of the image.
Hold a coloured object in this area, close enough to fill it.
The LED strip at the edges of the frame and in the panel takes that colour; the panel shows its hex and RGB value. Show another colour and the strip glides over to it.
Your camera permission is used only on this page and only when you turn it on.
Your image never leaves your device: no frame is recorded or sent.

Measurement starts when the camera is on.
A demonstration of an RGB scene: the strip is virtual. In a real installation the colour command could go to a light receiver driving an RGB LED strip (for example CLT-1103, Mono + RGB light receiver).
CYRA log
- Once you turn on the camera, we start talking here.
Behind the scenes
- At every measurement the sampling area is reduced to 40×40 points, and the hue, saturation and brightness of each point are calculated.
- Pale (grey, white) and dark points are ignored; the rest are sorted into 24 hue ranges, and the average colour of the busiest range is the dominant colour. If the colour covers less than 15% of the area, CYRA says “no colour”.
- For the LED the hue is kept and the strongest channel is pulled to full power; with every measurement the strip closes part of the remaining gap, so the transition is smooth and does not flicker. The camera’s white balance and the room light affect the colour it reads.
Where it helps
- Pergola and terrace lighting: an RGB light scene that matches the colour of a fabric, a cushion or a wall.
- Shop windows and stores: shelf and window light that matches the colour of the product on display.
- Events and hospitality: ambient light that changes to a guest’s chosen colour within seconds.
Example use ideas; we design the right one for your project together.
