CYRA Lab · Module 02
Smart Space
The light comes on as you enter and goes off when the space empties.
CYRA detects the people in the space, counts them and divides the space into three zones: the light in your zone comes on, and when a zone empties it waits a few seconds and turns off by itself. Walk from side to side in the frame and watch the light follow you.

- ~8 MB on first start
- Model: EfficientDet-Lite0 · person detection (COCO)
How to try it
Turn on the camera and step into the frame; CYRA detects you and says how many people there are.
Move from side to side in the frame: the light in your zone comes on, and you can see it on the floor plan in the panel.
Leave the frame: the light in the empty zone turns off by itself after 5 seconds, and the panel counts how many times it switched a light off.
Your camera permission is used only on this page and only when you turn it on.
Your image never leaves your device: no frame is recorded or sent.

In the demo a zone's light goes off 5 s after it empties; in a real installation the delay is set for the space.
CYRA log
- Once you turn on the camera, we start talking here.
Behind the scenes
- The person detector runs about seven times a second; a zone counts as occupied when a person's centre is in it.
- The count does not change on a single frame: an entry or exit is accepted only when the number of people stays the same for 0.8 seconds, so a momentary missed detection does not switch the light off.
- In the demo the switch-off delay is 5 seconds; in a real installation this delay and the number of zones are set for the space.
Where it helps
- Offices and meeting rooms: lighting that switches off empty zones and saves energy.
- Terraces and pergola areas: zone lights that come on when guests sit down and go off when they leave.
- Shops and corridors: lighting by occupancy, and people counting.
